Google Now Aims to Lead Future Technological Shift from Mobile First to AI First
In an open letter to shareholders, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai stressed on the role of futuristic technology in this information-driven world. Talking about technology, Google has always held it’s search capabilities at the very core of its existence, but moving ahead the company has set some futuristic technology based goals to give everyone easy access to information.
As part of their its term goals, Google’s placing it’s bet on the power of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence; to the point that you’ll be able to locate things without even having to ask for them. We have already been using some of this futuristic technology in the form of Google Flights, which reminds you about your flight schedules and Google Calendar that informs you about your daily scheduled tasks. Typically, the search giant wants to feed you every information that you need, on the go, without you even asking for it.
About Google’s decision on investing heavily on development of Artificial Intelligence Technology, Google’s CEO believes,
Over time, the computer itself — whatever its form factor — will be an intelligent assistant helping you through your day. We will move from mobile first to an AI first world.
In his open letter, Pichai lauded the accomplishments of the company in the field of machine learning which seemed almost unimaginable in the past. He even gave the instance of a programmed Supercomputer beating a world champion at the board game, Go.
This was the first instance wherein anyone besides Larry Page and/or Sergey Brin went on to pen a CEO’s letter to the shareholders. For your information, Sundar Pichai was made Google’s CEO in August 2015, after the company was restructured to form a new parent company called Alphabet Inc. With Pichai helming the affairs at Google, both Page and Brin, the founders of Google elected themselves as the CEO and President of Alphabet Inc., respectively.
